"Equipped to Live a Supernaturally Empowered Life"

So many of us in this fast-paced world are running on empty and feeling anything but "supernaturally empowered." For starters, a daily devotional - where we spend quiet time with the Lord and participate in Bible reading, prayer, praise and meditation - is a spiritual discipline that we must include in our lives. I highly recommend daily quiet time alone with God and also scheduled family devotions. When we make God a priority and draw near to Him, He will draw near to us (James 4:7-8). It is during these quiet times that the Lord speaks to us and reveals Himself to us (He also spiritually and emotionally recharges us). If we're going to rely on God to live a fruitful Christian life, we'll need to "quiet ourselves" and set aside time to listen for His still small voice. When we listen and obey, God supernaturally works in us and through us so we can become all we were meant to be and glorify Him.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, this whole drawing near to God process starts with Jesus. We can't earn our way into heaven by relying on ourselves (our good behavior and good deeds won't get us into heaven). Eternal life is a gift we receive from God when we put our faith in Jesus Christ. When we ask Jesus to be our Savior - and rely on His sacrifice to save us from our sins - we become children of God. Our place in heaven is now guaranteed because Jesus paid the price to get us in. Are you in? If you haven't asked Jesus to be your Savior, please ask Him now. If you've done that, you are a child of God. Our heavenly Father now wants His children to go out and live fruitful lives while we're here on earth. A fruitful life is an obedient and rewarding life that pleases and glorifies God. It goes without saying that we can't live fruitful and supernaturally empowered lives in our own power. We need to rely on the power of the Living God. Philippians 2:13 tells us that God is working through His children right now:

For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases Him.
Philippians 2:13 (New Living Translation)

Yes, God is working in you as you read these words. He’s helping you to become all you were meant to be. So how does He do that? God has given us some powerful gifts – more like super powers –to help us become more and more like Jesus. One of these gifts is God Himself. God gives all of His children the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God now lives in you and all believers. His Spirit is with you wherever you go and He’s there to guide you, protect you, comfort you, teach you and empower you. There is no greater power in all the universe and He now resides in you (if you are a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ). No worldly power or evil spirit can overcome, outwit or outdo the Holy Spirit who dwells inside of you:

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won your fight with these false prophets, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
1John 4:4 (New Living Translation)

God is with you, now it’s up to you to listen to Him and step out in faith. But there’s more, we’ve been given other “super powers.” Please check back with us for Part II and we’ll tell you about them.
