"Opening Up Doors"

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened”
(Matthew 7:7-8)

Okay it’s 2005 and we’re back to work, school and our non-holiday routines. It’s a new year and time to look ahead. Let this be the year that Jesus Christ does something awesome through you and your family. God wants to do amazing things through you, are you listening?

Here is your 2005 Action Plan to draw closer to God and find out what He has in store for you. If you’re single, many items in this plan still apply. “Come near to God and He will come near to you” (James 4:8). God is waiting to hear from you and He would love to help you. Start knocking!

Commit to having an individual quiet time with the Lord (at least 30 minutes per day). Try to do this early in the morning before everyone is awake or later in the evening when everyone is asleep. Mornings work for me, but do what’s best for you. Try to include several of these elements (prayer and Bible reading are musts) – mix it up to keep your devotions fresh:

Pray as a couple (if married) – minimum once per week. Perhaps do a short devotion together. Be sure to pray for your marriage, your children and His will for your family. Pray for your pastor(s) as well.

Eat dinner together as a family - try for at least 4 dinners together per week. Let this family gathering provide you with an opportunity to do more than just eat:

Pray with your children - Pray as a family, pray over each child as you send them off to school and pray with your younger children before they go to bed.

Join a small group – Keep learning by participating in Bible studies and staying connected to other believers.

Fully Rely On God – What are you going to allow Him to accomplish through your life in 2005 and beyond? Ask –Seek – Knock and be ready to step out in faith. Let God be your Source for everything.

“In the morning, O LORD , you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation”
(Psalm 5:3)
