How This Got Started : A Call to Full-Time Ministry

After seventeen years in the corporate world, the Lord revealed to me that industrial marketing was not my God-given purpose. Despite having a successful career as a marketing manager, these past four years had be""come increasingly frustrating and unfulfilling. God has filled this void with a yearning to serve Him and others in more meaningful and creative ways. At a pivotal juncture in my Christian walk and business career, our church read Rick Warren's book "The Purpose Driven Life" and my wife Karen and I joined a small group for that study. I went into this study with strong expectations that God would reveal the next stage of His plan for my life. On page 239 of that book, Rick Warren and God spoke to me, big time: "Don't waste your life in a job that doesn't express your heart. Meaning is far more important than money. Aim for the better life - serving God in a way that expresses your heart. Figure out what you love to do - what God gave you a heart to do - and then do it for His glory".

Our new ministry: "Faith, Hope, Love & Laughter"

Our emerging ministry's tagline is "Laugh, learn and grow with God". Who says "religion" has to hurt, not Jesus. We are way too serious, especially in the Church.

Humor will be a core component of this ministry because I love to make people laugh and have successfully used humor over the years to both capture people's attention and drive home biblical lessons. Throughout my life, my sense of humor, storytelling ability, openness and sensitivity have enabled me to reach diverse audiences and connect with them on an emotional and spiritual level.

Beyond being “funny”, the vision is for a multimedia ministry that communicates the Gospel message and provides life application teaching in a scriptural, yet culturally relevant context. We will reach and teach people through the power of the Holy Spirit and media such as radio, cable access television, the internet and personal engagements. This will include speaking, music, drama and writing. In recent years, the good Lord has provided me with new opportunities to develop and use these very gifts at Valley Brook Community Church. Here I have been given the privilege to speak, preach, write, sing and act. Our congregation really seems to connect with me, moreover, it is “what God gave me a heart to do”. Go figure, God has been training me all along in preparation for this unique and exciting full time ministry. What an awesome God we serve!
